Mel Versluis
Lead Pastor

Mel and Karen Versluis (it’s pronounced Vur-slew-is) originally from Ontario, have made their way to Terrace via Kindersley, Saskatchewan where  they spent the last four years. The Versluis’ are the parents of four girlsand five grandchildren.

The call to ministry came later in life for this couple. Their journey to full time ministry took them and their four young kids, at that time, on a very exciting journey (if you haven’t heard it, stick around…it’s a doozy!!) This couple try as much as possible to work together in ministry, their giftings are distinct and compliment one another nicely. Before ministry Mel spent 18 years working for the Shopper’s Drug Mart chain. Karen has had many different jobs, including home school mom, support worker for exceptional needs individuals and most recently as an Account manager at a credit union branch.

The Versluis’ come with a heart for the next generation. A key part of the vision they bring is investing in ministry to the children and youth of Terrace and the surrounding area. Family ministry that connects the church, the gospel and the community is at the centre of who they are as a couple. A strong emphasis on connections and relationships helps complete the basic outline of who our new pastors are.

Both Mel and Karen are excited about what God has in store for them next. Their focus is for the church to have meaningful connections with the community that they serve. God loves the people of this community; it is our responsibility as a church to share that with them in a way they can understand. The church is God’s chosen method for meeting the needs of the culture and the Versluis’ are ready to partner with God and what He is doing in Terrace, open to what Holy Spirit’s leading and excited to be working with the people of Terrace Pentecostal Assembly.

Rachel Blencowe
Associate Pastor

Pastor Rachel Blencowe is originally from Stouffville, Ontario. She was born and raised there with a loving mother and younger brother. She felt God’s call to ministry very early on in her life and has been pursuing that ever since. She is a recent graduate from Master’s College and Seminary and has had work experience working for her hometown church in the summers (as well as an interesting experience working in a corn factory).

Rachel is passionate about working with children and youth and walking with them as they learn about and grow in God. Her life has been changed by God’s love and she desires to help others discover that same love. She has a great passion for people and reaching out and building relationships with others. Rachel is looking forward to becoming a part of the Church and community of Terrace and seeing what God continues to have in store.
